Hi, all. I'm Meghan and I've just joined.
I haven't studied Gaelic yet, but I will be getting a tattoo with a phrase from the O'Flahertty clan in Galway. The clan motto is "Fortune favors the bold"
Any leads?
Thanks in advance!

Mon, April 14, 2008 - 3:49 PMI am still learning and would not advise for a tattoo.
However one thing about Gaelic and dialects I have learned is that literal translations are not always what would be used for the same meaning in the culture.
Aside from that there are often , multiple words for fortune and bold and so on. I would make sure you had this done by an Irish native. Try contacting the Clan representative. Google searches are worth investing time in.
