I just put this on youtube. It's a very interesting talk on the history and background of the last great chieftains of Ireland. Most fascinating is the complex role that religion played on the events. I hope everyone makes some time to watch all 12 parts of this hour and forty minute presentation by Pat Flannery.

Thu, June 14, 2007 - 12:59 PMI sat through the whole thing last night. It was definitely worth the two hours. -

Tue, June 19, 2007 - 11:22 PMHey, glad you liked it. I'll be putting lecture on Brehon law on youtube next week. I know you'll be wanting to see that. He had a very interesting take on the subject, not stuff you would read in the books by Kelly or Patterson, but real personal insights. -

Re: Lecture onthe 'Great O'Neill' on youtube.
Wed, June 20, 2007 - 8:10 AMThat has always been a passion of mine. I (somewhere in storage, right now) have a book on Brehon Law by Sophie Bryant written in 1923, when she was trying to influence the new laws for the Irish Free State (or, at least, that is how I read her agenda). I have also read Cattle Lords and Clansmen, which has a very different take on it. I have not been able to find Kelly's work, though I find it constantly referenced.
